Conan Edogawa and Basil (2014)

Conan: Due to these oddly-shaped footprints, I surmise that Fidget entered this toy shop. The mud on these footprints contain peanuts, salty water, and spilled cheap beer, which means Fidget's been wandering around a bar near the London docks. The mud is still fresh, which means that he's still in the area.

recently suggested that I re-draw one of my older pieces, and I decided to do one of my most popular pictures, Conan Edogawa and Basil . You can read the back-story there.

I referenced myself for Conan's pose and drew it while looking in a mirror (my cat thought that it was a new game, haha).

However, I didn't have as much patience with Basil's pose, so I re-drew the head, traced my old drawing, and stretched his body out. I used Disney's Great Mouse Detective Lithograph and "snipped" scenes from the movie as a reference; he was not traced from the original movie.

I didn't add Shinichi in there this time since I wanted the scene to look like from GMD, and Disney doesn't usually do the ghost head hanging in mid-air behind the characters.

The colors are from color samples that I took from the toy shop scene from The Great Mouse Detective dvd; Conan's coloring is similar to Olivia's.
