Conan Edogawa and Basil

Conan: Due to these oddly-shaped footprints, I surmise that Fidget entered this toy shop. The mud on these footprints contain peanuts, salty water, and spilled cheap beer, which means Fidget's been wandering around a bar near the London docks. The mud is still fresh, which means that he's still in the area.

Basil:


My fifth picture in the Detective Conan- Great Mouse Detective crossover series.


This scene inspired my whole Detective Conan and Great Mouse Detective cross-over - the scene in the toyshop with Olivia and Basil. I'm pretty sure that things would have ended differently if Conan had been there instead of Olivia. (He would have kicked the snot out of Fidget, for one thing).

The large mouse looming behind Conan is Shinichi Kudos, the great high-school mouse detective, Conan's true form. A mysterious organization tried to kill Shinichi by giving him a strange cheese, but he turned back into his child-sized form instead, retaining his keen intellect. (It looks like Basil's looking at Shinichi, but he's really looking at Conan).

Conan Edogawa lives with the renowned private detective Kogoro Mauri and Mauri's daughter, Ran .


About the Great Mouse Detective: The Disney movie revolves around a mouse named Basil of Baker Street who lives in Holmes's basement and is known as the Sherlock Holmes of the mouse world. The movie is based on the Basil of Baker Street children's book series by Eve Titus.


About Detective Conan: Conan is the child-sized form of famous high-school detective Shinichi Kudo. Shinichi was known as the "Hensei Holmes" or "the Modern-Day Holmes" depending on the English translation.

Thanks to a poison called APTX 4869, Shinichi shrunk to his child-sized form and now goes by the name Conan Edogawa, named after Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Edogawa Rampo. He lives with Detective Kogoro Mouri and Mouri's daughter Ran and is looking for the Black Organization (the organization that shrunk him) and Kaito Kid (a magician thief).


Sherlock Holmes inspired / influenced both Conan/Shinichi and Basil, so I thought they were perfect together.

Conan is wearing the trench coat that he's wearing on his Phantom of Baker Street poster. His pose is Olivia Flaversham's pose from the movie. I used movie references and a special edition lithograph as references for Basil's pose; I did actually draw him (his pose is a combination of 3 different pictures).
